AutumnEase: Holistic Care for Childhood Wellness

Autumn brings with it childhood colds and nasal congestion, not often accompanied by symptoms such as seizures and convulsions, as well as reactions to high temperatures. Here’s how to assist your child without complications.

Causes of Respiratory Viral Infections (RVIs)

Respiratory viral infections (RVIs) are the most common illnesses among children this time of year. Let's explore the proper approach to treating RVIs to ensure a swift and comfortable recovery.

Proper Approach to Treating RVIs

1. Antibiotics Are Not Necessary

- Antibiotics are ineffective against viruses that cause RVIs. They should only be used if there is a bacterial infection, which is not often the case. Overuse of antibiotics can lead to bacterial resistance and harm your child's health.

2. Homeopathy

- Homeopathic remedies can alleviate symptoms and support your child's immune system. I tailor the selection of homeopathic remedies individually, taking into account the specific characteristics of your child.

3. Herbal Remedies

- Herbal teas and infusions are beneficial in treating RVIs. Chamomile, linden flower, or rosehip teas have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Echinacea helps boost immunity and prevent further aggravation of the illness.

4. Salt Solutions for Nasal Irrigation

- Using saline solutions to flush the nasal passages helps clear mucus and viruses, improving breathing and easing symptoms. These solutions can be purchased at a pharmacy or made at home by dissolving a teaspoon of natural salt (preferably sea salt or Himalayan salt) in a liter of boiled water.

5. Bach Flower Essences

- Bach flower essences can be used to provide emotional support to a child during illness. For example, Rescue Remedy helps to cope with stress and anxiety, which can improve the overall well-being of the child. Also, I will customize this with the help of POLLAR PS 1000, as children may not accurately express their emotions.

6. Humidification and Ventilation

- Moist and fresh air aids in quick recovery. Use air humidifiers to maintain indoor humidity levels at 40-60%. Regularly ventilate rooms to ensure fresh air circulation and reduce virus concentration.

7. Adequate Hydration

- Ensure your child drinks enough fluids. Herbal teas or “tincture” made from fresh fruits, rich in vitamin C, support the immune system.

8.Management of Seizures and Fever

-During RVIs, some children may experience seizures or convulsions. It is crucial to monitor their condition closely and seek medical attention promptly if such symptoms occur. Additionally, apply fever-reducing medications strictly in the presence of high temperatures. These medications do not treat the infection itself but alleviate symptoms of high fever. They should not be taken to prevent temperature elevation.

Wishing all parents patience and wisdom in caring for your child. Stay healthy and happy!
